Fashion shoot – Sarah + Sophie

A few weeks ago I headed back to Pumpkin Studios in Denton, East Manchester, for a quick portfolio shoot with the fantastic models Sarah Barlow and Sophie Bailey. I was lucky enough to have the make-up skills of Sarah Morten and styling amazingness of Sarah Ineson, and the photos really benefited from their combined expertise.

I’ll probably post some more images from this shoot since there are so many I’m pleased with, but in the meantime I’d love to hear your thoughts on them so far!

Kate and David

Last month I was lucky enough to photograph Kate and David’s wedding. After meeting them late last year, it was clear that their wedding would be a day of happiness and filled with a sense of family. From the handmade dress to acapella renditions of favourite songs, everything came together and created an amazingly warm, loving atmosphere.

In one of the dustiest moves I have ever managed as a photographer, I managed to get quite a unique viewpoint during the service.

The reception was held in a stunning marquee close to the church.

The bride’s father John gave a fantastic and moving speech, as well as conducting the service!

Finally, two of my absolute favourite photographs from the day.

Thanks to Kate and David for allowing me to enjoy such a relaxed and beautiful wedding day!

Punting in Cambridge

I’ve worked in Cambridge a few times over the past 2 years, but have never really explored the city for my own enjoyment. Last weekend I went on a kickin’ rad road trip 200 miles from Manchester to the ‘bridge to see friends, be merry and generally be on punts.

Punts!

Rik confidently took the big pole thing (technical term) and steered us away.

Nah mate I’m just a duck, chillin in this water mainly.

Both Rik and I tried our hands at steering us down the river, but really failed quite magnificently.

Ross seemed much more confident perched up at the back, so he was appointed captain.

Meanwhile, Rik and I checked out the ridiculously cool and ridiculously old Cambridge architecture.

A traffic jam. On a river. No, really.

Three exhausting but great days later and I am home, working hard again. Some fantastic shoots coming up which I’m really excited about, and will blog about soon.

First foray into sports photography

Today was day one of a promotional shoot for my old school. It’s great being asked to do this sort of work because I know the school ridiculously well and feel completely at home there. Waiting on the go-ahead to post some other photos from the shoot, but here’s a test shot from between football & rugby matches.

I mentioned this earlier on the blog and have now finally gotten around to posting a full set of images! Last week I was fortunate enough to shoot a fundraising fashion evening at my old school. It was spectacularly produced and organised, and hopefully the photographs show just how enjoyable it was.

New Year

New year, new attitude. The first icy days of 2010 have been spent working so hard, as well as enjoying friends and good music. Check out Hype Machine if you haven’t already, it’s amazing for discovering new music & remixes.

Winter Portrait Extravaganza

Hope you’re enjoying the cold weather and festive atmosphere as much as I have been! There’s so much goodwill floating around at the moment that it almost makes me sick. But not quite. For example, Jeremy Cowart & co. are ripping it up charity-style with Help-Portrait, giving portraits to those in need. Not only that, but there’s a great sense of warmth, as unlikely as this may sound in Manchester. Warmth in terms of Christmas cheer and the electricity that seems to surround the city this month.

Snowed in!

Along with much of the North-West (or the country?), I’m fairly stuck thanks to the weather. With that in mind, I’ve been getting organised and playing with Teux Deux. Todo lists are a bit of an obsession for me, so a well-designed website to take care of them is great to use. Getting in the festive spirit with just 3 days to go before Christmas!
